Senate: Saroya Ornelas Pagnucci, Benjamin Kagan, Kyle Feitler Davu Hemphill-Smith
Rising juniors Benjamin Kagan, Saroya Ornelas Pagnucci, Kyle Feitler, Davu Hemphill- Smith are seeking to be Parker’s next Senate Heads. After being in Student government for two years and going to every Senate, the four of them want to be the best Senate group in Parker history.
From their “Charlie’s Angel” posters to their ever-present acronym, sbkd4senate is one of two groups running for the office. Some of their previous prominent roles include Parliamentarian, Senate Representatives, and Inclusion Coordinator. Now they are looking into the future to change Parker.
“We want to do actual things,” Kagan said. A main point of their campaign is to bring “actionable change” to the student body through the use of the Senate. According to Kagan, the group wants to go past just talk.
“We want to make sure we’re actually taking the student feedback and applying it to the school versus just having a bunch of a list of complaints with no change,” Ornelas Pagnucci said. They expressed how they want to give the student body the ability to change senate and Student government. “For example, if the students wanted a different lunch option, we could listen to them and adapt. We want to let the student body see the change that they want.” Hemphill-Smith said.
The Senate group emphasized the importance of having every student voice heard. “We want to make sure that we have a broader, more diverse perspective of people,” Hemphill-Smith said.
Ornelas Pagnucci further explained how her group wants to expand student government to each student and continue to make students feel comfortable sharing their opinions. “We want to make sure each student is heard to make Parker a better place for all.”
“We are truly passionate about Student Government,” Hemphill- Smith said. The group emphasized that they would give 110% effort to improving Senate and Student government as a whole. They want to make sure each student is heard and each student has the opportunity to bring change to Parker.
“Allowing students to be their own selves and give genuine feedback is how we will bring actionable change to Parker’s student government.” Ornelas Pagnucci said.
