Are the Bulls Back?
Parker’s Opinion
How bout them Bulls! Over the off-season, your Chicago Bulls really added some depth to their roster. People have not been this excited about the Bulls, since Derrick Rose won his MVP in 2011, and now we finally have some hope. I spoke with some people around Parker to get their take on how the Bulls will do in the upcoming season.
Over the off-season, the Bulls got some guys that should definitely make a difference on the offensive end. They signed Demar DeRozen, traded for Lonzo Ball, and signed Alex Caruso. They also drafted guard from Illinois, Ayo Dusomo. This is all to go along with all star big man Nikola Vucevic and superstar Zach Lavine. All of these guys can definitely score and the Bulls should have one of the highest points per game averages in the NBA, but the biggest question is, can they compete in the east with teams like the Bucks or Nets?
I spoke to 11th grader Leo Auerbach, who has always been a big Bulls fan, about how he thinks the Bulls can compete this year compared to other teams in the Eastern conference. “I think in the offseason bringing in more pieces to accompany Zach Lavine is a great start,”said Leo. “It is going to be difficult to compete with teams like the Nets and the Bucks as they both have some of the best players in the NBA,” said Leo, “but at the end of the day, we’ve seen before that anything can happen in the NBA. As long as you have a team that has depth and can compete, you should be fine. And the Bulls look like they have that.”
I also spoke to senior Sam Laser who is one of the stars on the varsity basketball team here at Parker. Sam has not always been a massive Bulls fan, but he’s always loved basketball. I asked him how he thinks the Bulls match up compared to other teams in the East this year. “I think the Bulls can compete with the top teams in the East,”said Sam. “I think the Nets are the best team in the NBA, but I think we can compete with the Bucks, Heat, and Sixers.” Sam also made a very bold take saying, “both the Bucks and Miami are overrated.”
The whole Parker community, let alone the whole city, cannot wait to see what the Bulls can do this year, and hopefully they can make some noise.
