Dear reader,
Wow. It’s finally here. Happy first day of school! The sun is shining (hopefully, we don’t know, we wrote this a week ago). There are no issues with scheduling (once again not sure, just predicting). But the one thing we know for certain is that everyone is reading this marvelous issue of “The Weekly.” We hope you’ll take a thorough look through this piece of amazing student journalism.
Our writers have been working hard, bringing their laptops to the beach, writing during the few minutes between their pre-
season practices, and grinding through the hot summer hours, all to deliver this paper to you on the first day of school. We’d love for everyone to read our editorial about Affirmative Action on page 8, and Jack Adee’s first column on the new phone policy, page 10: a wonderful take on a top-of-mind issue. Finally, don’t forget to stop by Lula Notz’s feature on the new Upper School Counselor, Kirstin Williams.
We have so many goals for these upcoming issues, and we’re confident that our writers, staff, and new positions will help us fulfill everything we believe a student publication should be: honest, informative, and powerful. We’re ready to enter this year as united and strong as possible, using our privilege of running “The Weekly” the best ways we can. But seriously, from the very bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for reading.
Always,
HBH
