The Parker Colonels baseball team beat Noble Academy on Sunday, May 14, with a score of 15-0. Contributing to that success was freshman Joseph Evans’s no-hitter.
Evans said that the team’s thought process going into the game was “to get a lead early and play a clean game on the bases and on the field.”
“I came out of the first inning pitching very well, then got lots of runs from the offense,” Evans said. “After the second inning, I pitched just as well, and I could continue it with a comfortable lead.” The Colonels kept up this dominance inning after inning, run after run, and clean sheet after clean sheet.
Evans gave credit to the rest of the team. “It always helps the pitcher out to play with a lead and have the catcher and the rest of the fielders playing well, which helped me pitch a great game,” he said. Evans believes their teamwork that day exemplified the team slogan: “One team, one heartbeat.”
Junior Captain Lincoln Hamid led the team in hitting, having not only three hits but driving in four runs.
Up to this point, the team had experienced dominance before, winning previous games 17-0 and 17-2, but this was a new level. They won 15-0 but made all of their runs in just four innings. The team graduated no seniors, so we can expect to build on these results from next year.
