On Friday, December 12, Parker’s girls and boys basketball teams played back-to-back Clark Street Classic games at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and by the end of the night, both teams walked off the court with wins as a loud student section filled the gym with chants, cheers, and energy.
The night began at 6 p.m. with the girls basketball team taking on Intrinsic. From the opening tip, Parker set an offensive tone, forcing turnovers and limiting Intrinsic’s scoring opportunities. The girls jumped out to an early lead and controlled the pace of the game, heading into halftime ahead and not looking back. The final score was 30–19.
“Our defense really set the tone for us,” senior and captain Kiley Moss said. “We were communicating well, switching when we needed to, and trusting each other.”
Parker’s defense stayed consistent throughout the game, closing in on Intrinsics shooters and dominating the rebounds. On offense, the team focused on ball movement and taking smart shots, while also earning trips to the free-throw line. Captains Moss, Jojo Husbeck, and Miriam Johnson credited the win to preparation and teamwork.
“We’ve been working really hard this season and playing well together,” Husbeck said. “We want to keep raising our standard and becoming more competitive, and we hope more people come out to support us at future big games like Blue Out.” The lack of turnout has been a consistent theme for the girls basketball team in recent years, “I was really hoping to see some improvement, but we haven’t really,” Moss said.
Although the girls’ game wrapped up earlier in the evening, students in the stands, many wearing white for the themed night, stayed loud, and cheered after defensive stops and turnovers. By the time the girls left the court, the crowd was already buzzing in anticipation for the boys’ game.
At 7:30 p.m., the Parker boys tipped off against Latin in a rivalry matchup that featured physical play, many momentum swings, and nonstop noise from the student section. Latin scored first, but Parker quickly responded, pushing the pace and applying defensive pressure.

“The energy was insane from the start,” senior Hudson Davis said. “Everyone was yelling together, and it really felt like the whole school was one body.”
The game went back and forth through the first half, with blocked shots, long three-pointers, fouls, and fast breaks keeping the crowd on its feet. Parker used its depth to stay steady, while Latin made several runs to keep the score close. By halftime, Parker held a slight edge.
The second half continued with the same intensity. Parker forced turnovers with active defense and capitalized on free throws, while Latin struggled to find consistency from the three-point line. As the game went on, Parker slowly built a lead, but the outcome remained uncertain well into the fourth quarter.
“The game had so many exciting plays,” Davis said. “The chants made it even better.”
Some of the chants echoed throughout the night, including “Let’s go Parker” during timeouts, “You can’t do that” after fouls, and “air ball” following missed shots. Each big play was met with an immediate reaction from the student section, keeping the energy high from start to finish.
Parker ultimately pulled away late in the third quarter, finishing with a 57–45 win. Chris Chiles led the Colonels with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Brady Harris added 13 points. Several players contributed during key moments, helping Parker maintain control down the stretch.
Boys captain Nathan Pantoja said the atmosphere played a big role in the team’s performance. “The white-out game went how it was supposed to,” Pantoja said. “Seeing everyone hyped up, lifting each other, and locked in is what’s going to make this program stronger.”
Throughout both games, the student section stayed engaged, reacting to nearly every possession. Cheers followed defensive stops, chants erupted after fouls, and applause filled the gym as the final buzzer sounded.
“It was just so fun being there with everyone,” Davis said. “Hanging out with friends, yelling together, and watching Parker win made it even better.”
For the girls team, the night also carried special meaning. “It was really special to experience this with my team my senior year,” Moss said. “Seeing all the offseason work pay off in front of the school meant a lot.”
By the end of the night, Parker had swept the Clark Street Classic games, with the girls defeating Intrinsic 30–19 and the boys topping Latin 57–45. As players crossed the court and fans filed out of the gym, chants and applause lingered, marking a night that according to Moss, “felt bigger than just basketball.”
