Goodbye Nolan, Hello Moster
Introducing the New Technical Coordinator and Auditorium Manager
Tom Moster can be spotted around the city of Chicago exploring new neighborhoods, performing in plays, or binge watching Downton Abbey. Otherwise he’s working in room 209E. This office, with neatly stacked piles of paper and lights glowing beneath each complex application, is the workspace of a new piece to the Parker puzzle.
For all of his life, Moster has lived in Chicago. He graduated in 2013 from Illinois State University, majoring in Stage Management and Theatre Design/Production.Previously employed at the Beverly Art Center on the Southside of Chicago, Moster worked as a Theater Manager in their auditorium as well. When his friend from “the theater world” referred him to the Parker position, he was ecstatic.
“I was in a 400 seat theatre, with a lot less bells and whistles, you could say,” Moster said. “Coming here, with the seating on the stage, you know like eleven-hundred seats or so, a thousand seats– that is awesome. It’s awesome. This is such a beautiful space in itself and having the great soundboard and light board and projections, all of that is quite amazing and really great to work with.”
Moster acquired the position of Theater and Technical Coordinator/Auditorium Manager shortly after Tommy Nolan’s farewell from Parker in June. “I actually went to school with Mr. Nolan, so I knew him from before here,” Moster said. “We work very different. He functioned in a different way– where I’m kind of like type A. I like my organization. So I know people, some people, have come up and said, ‘Wow! It’s so clean in here.’”
Sophomore and MX Committee head Charlie Moog describes Moster as “friendly.” Nathan Satterfield, who is a sophomore and an MX Committee head, is also a fan of Moster. “He’s very open and nice– his office door is always open,” Satterfield said. “A lot of times I go in there and hang out and talk with him because he’s a nice, fun guy.”
