A Letter from Next Year’s Editors
Happy Summer, Parker!
Congrats on making it through another fantastic school year. After twelve jam-packed issues, we’re incredibly proud of the progress “The Parker Weekly” has made this past year and look forward to continuing such development as we guide the paper through its 108th Volume as your 2018-2019 Editors-in-Chief.
The three of us––Sammy, Avani, and Sophia––are beyond excited to deliver a year’s worth of engaging journalism, spanning news, features, opinions, and, most importantly, Parker Memes.
For the upcoming school year, we’ve introduced Online Co-Editors to manage a staff of Brief Writers and Videographers, so as to ensure that our website is updated regularly as “The Weekly” continues to experiment with new media and digital journalism.
We’ve also reinstated our photo staff for the purpose of sustaining “The Weekly”’s high standard of media-based journalism, and established the position of Political Liaison. The Political Liaisons will serve to advance our reporting on local and international politics while maintaining our meetings with 43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith.
We’re overjoyed to begin our work with a new faculty advisor by our side. Kate Tabor has years of journalistic experience, and we’re confident that our collaboration with such a talented and well-informed advisor will further the evolution of “The Weekly” as it continues to grow alongside our Parker family.
Our team for 2018-19 school year is composed of a wildly talented group of journalists, each and every one of whom is committed to producing an amazing paper, emblematic of the informed readership and high level of community discourse to which we aspire.
Even if you’re not an official member of our staff, we encourage all community members to contribute their voices to “The Weekly” in the upcoming school year!
Here’s to a great year,
Sammy Kagan, Avani Kalra, and Sophia Saker
Editors-in-Chief Designate of “The Parker Weekly”
