Letter from the Editors, Issue 9 — Volume CVIII
Hi Parker!
Happy break everyone! Everyone, you made it through the worst part of the year. The sun’s coming up and the flowers are coming out. Happy spring, we love you all, keep trucking.
We’ve got some wonderful articles in this issue. Make sure that you turn to the backpage and check out our editorial. Be sure to also take a look at Matthew Turk’s incredible work on pages 10 and 17, and Alex Ori’s coverage of last month’s climate strike on page five.
If you have anything to say, remember to email [email protected] or [email protected]. Please consider writing a Letter to the Editors about anything you see in this issue or a previous one.
Happy reading and so much love <3,
Sammy, Avani, and Sophia
About the Writers
Sammy Kagan, Editor-in-Chief
Sammy Kagan is excited to spend his senior year as Editor-in-Chief of “The Weekly.” He enjoys frequenting the cheese section at Jewel-Osco and hates stiff blue jeans. Sammy proudly wears a blue and white string bracelet on his left wrist which reads “WEEKLY,” despite constant assurance from his friends that such an accessory is wildly embarrassing. Ask to see it; he made it himself.
Avani Kalra, Editor-in-Chief
Avani Kalra is a senior and is ecstatic to be serving as an Editor-in-Chief of “The Weekly” this year. Previously, Avani has served as Editor-in-Chief in her junior year, a Copy Editor in her sophomore year, and a Staff Writer her freshman year. When not working on “The Weekly,” (which is rare) Avani can be found catching up on sleep... so don't call her with an AP style question.
Sophia Saker, Editor-in-Chief
This year is Sophia's fourth and final on "The Weekly." She is beyond excited to serve as "Editor in Chief," and can't wait to lead the staff into another great year. In previous years she served as Features Editor, Copy Editor, and Staff Writer. She also co-led the "Journalism and Society Today" symposium last January. Over the summer, she knit a full-length scarf in one week.
