Junior Josh Kaufman, whose perfect attendance record was broken following Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders defeat in the March 15 Illinois Democratic primary, was arrested yesterday during a Sanders campaign event at Mabel’s Diner in Wilmington, Washington. Video from the event shows a sobbing Kaufman grabbing the 74 year old around the neck during his rendition of “This Land is Your Land.”

“At first I thought the young man was trying to kill the Senator,” Jane O’Meara Sanders, Bernie’s wife said. Freshman Charlie Moog, a classmate of Kaufman and fellow Bernie supporter, commented that the student had become increasingly obsessed with the candidate. “I have Bernie shirts too,” Moog said. “But not thaaaat many.”

Moog also revealed that Kaufman sent him numerous “promposal” videos,” one of which incorporated an elaborate Bollywood theme.  “It wasn’t so much a romantic obsession,” remarked advisor Jeanne Barr. “I think Josh just became incredibly passionate about income inequality.”
