Dear Parker,
It’s hard to write this knowing it will be the last. It’s also hard to
convey the immense appreciation we have for this publication and the
responsibility we have been honored to carry. We can all agree on the
fact that The Weekly was one of the most formative parts of our Parker
experiences.
Everyone talks about the power of student journalism, and this
year, the three of us truly got to experience it. Our time on The Weekly
has prepared us for far more than a future in journalism. We leave with
the ability to face disagreement thoughtfully, the resilience to move past
obstacles, and the understanding that what we do has impact.
Sascha, Owen, and Christina: this role will shape you in
ways you never expected. There will be moments of frustration,
disappointment, and stress, but there will also be moments where you
feel an incredible amount of pride, accomplishment, joy, and awe. The
first time you see someone reading The Weekly you finished laying out
in Adobe Indesign the week before is pretty cool. We have so much
faith in you, and will always be a text or call away.
To Ms. Tabor and Mr. Rampson, thank you for your guidance,
but most of all for your trust. If the two of you are not strong
proponents of student-led journalism, we don’t know who is. The
Weekly will miss you both next year.
Signing off,
JLG
