Parker students protest in Chicago’s downtown
On Friday, February 13, hundreds of students from schools across Chicago and nearby suburbs staged walkouts and protested against the Trump administration and its deportation policies. Many Upper School Parker students attended, leaving school at 1 p.m. and heading downtown. They marched from Federal Plaza to Daley Plaza in front of City Hall, where they held signs and chanted phrases such as “ICE out” and “Donald Trump has got to go.” The protest was organized by the Chicago branch of the national volunteer group Dare to Struggle as part of its Spring Surge to Melt ICE. The protest was covered by prominent local news outlets such as The Chicago Tribune and NBC 5 Chicago.
