Trump’s State of the Union Address

On Tuesday, February 5th, at 8pm, President Donald Trump delivered his State of The Union Address to millions of American people, reflecting on his presidency and promising many things to the American people for the near future.

Lasting just over 1 hour and 22 minutes, during his State of the Union Address, Trump spoke on unifying parties, ending aids, and building a border wall between the US and Mexico, something he has promised, but has yet to accomplish since his campaign trial.  As Trump spoke, he described only crimes committed by immigrants, specifically those crossing the southern border, further attempting to emphasize the need for a wall. Trump’s strong desires for a border wall is the direct cause of the US government shutdown that lasted for over 34 days.

Trump continued to speak on eliminating Obamacare, he took credit for the economy’s health and the surprisingly good recent jobs numbers, and spoke of  his work that he has done lifting restrictions on oil and natural gas.

At this years State of the Union Address, congress women in attendance, all wore white, standing out to the television audience.  Women of the congress wore white in a tribute to the women’s suffrage movement, and fight for equal rights. There message was loud and clear, calling attention from media outlets across the nation.
