On September 23, the Girls Tennis team played their Homecoming match at the Waveland Park Tennis Courts. The score was 2-3, and although they lost, Homecoming was the highlight of the team’s season according to the players.

“Though we didn’t come out with a win, all the players put up a really good fight. There were lots of amazing points and all the matches were fun to watch,” said junior and varsity player Sydney Bronstein.

The players also loved the turnout of spectators. “Homecoming for the tennis team this year was great. We had the best turnout of supporters that I have ever seen,” said varsity player and junior Mala Levin.

Senior Danni Kaplan is one of this year’s team captains. “Although we lost overall, there were so many supporters who came out to watch us,” she said.

The turnout succeeded in spite of the match being on the Friday night before most other sports’ Homecoming games. “I do think it’s hard having the match on Friday, but I think the turnout this year was better than in the past. “I do think it’s hard having the match on Friday but I think the turnout this year was better than in the past,” Levin said.

Some Parker teams, including boys soccer, even moved their practices on that Friday in order to come watch the match. “The Cross Country team ran by Waveland, so they could watch us play North Shore Country Day and support the tennis team,” Kaplan said.

“It was really nice to see support from the soccer, golf, and track teams. Normally they have practice during our Homecoming game so having them come watch really boosted the spirits of the players,” Bronstein said.

Overall, Homecoming was great for the team. “We really came together as a team and that’s going to be beneficial to us in our upcoming matches,” Kaplan said.“Everyone’s cheering and positivity made playing even more fun as I felt so supported by my fellow athletes and peers.”
