Varsity Field Hockey vs. Homewood-Flossmoor

Parker Scores Homecoming Victory, Wins 5-0

On Saturday afternoon, the Parker varsity field hockey team went up against Homewood-Flossmoor for their annual homecoming game on the turf field.

The match, which started at 12pm, was filled with tons of action and excitement from the players as well as the spectators, who crowded every single bleacher. Parker parents and friends, fellow athletes, and other students cheered the Colonels on with great enthusiasm as the afternoon sun beat down on the varsity girls running back and forth across the field.

Parker secured their lead during the first half, making the score 1-0 thanks to Senna Gardner, a freshman. After halftime, just ten minutes into the second half, Parker scored again, with Evan Hughes, a senior and one of three captains, bumping the score to 2-0. Not losing momentum, five minutes later Hughes scored the team’s third goal, almost securing a win for Parker with just 13 minutes left.

Even though the game began to wind down, Parker made sure that they were going to have the last say before leaving the turf. With just one minute to spare, their fourth goal was made by Sophie Becker, a senior. Not only did the Parker girls win by a large margin, but Lauren Goodman, a senior, scored yet another goal just as the buzzer rang out. The final score was 5-0.
