Parker Reacts to Midterms

“The Weekly” online staff interviewed a multitude of Parker students and teachers about their thoughts on both specific elections that took place on November 6 and the broader national outlook following Election Day.

“I would say the Democrats did really well and I’m happy. I think—mathematically—they couldn’t really get the Senate, but they won the house, and I think that’s enough power to check the president. It’s also a good opportunity for the country to come together and be bipartisan.” — Eli Moog (9th)

Shadle Places High at State

Senior Audrey Shadle finished her cross country season, placing 51st out of 209 high schoolers at the state cross country tournament in Peoria, at 9:00 a.m on November 3rd.

“Weekly” Staff Attends Journalism Conference

“The Weekly” staff attended the National Scholastic Press Association’s (NSPA) biannual conference at the Hyatt Regency in the Loop from Thursday, November 1 through Friday, November 3. On Thursday night, Chief Official White House Photographer for Presidents Obama and Reagan Pete Souza addressed virtually every one of the 6,000+ student journalists and yearbook contributors. Students from schools in 45 US States, Canada, China, and the UK attended. “Weekly” Editors-in-Chief Sammy Kagan, Sophia Saker, and Avani Kalra led a session on dealing with censorship at independent schools.
